Seeking Out Adventure

The troop camps out once every month either locally or within a short distance (less than 3 hours) from the church. We try to make every campout something the troop wants to do with a scout theme attached to the activity. We have been to the Gettysburg, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Wilds in Zanesville, Mohican State Park for canoeing, Toledo Zoo and Cosi, State Capitol in Columbus, skiing at Brandywine and Boston Mills. We also utilize Camp Butler and Manatoc in our back yard for campouts and activities.

Each year we attend Summer Camp at Manatoc, which is highly recommended for first year scouts to help achieve the first four ranks in boy scouts. Older scouts can take advange of merit badges at the camp to help with advancing to the upper ranks.

We also have at least one high adventure trip every two years. This is for scouts who have been to one summer camp and have been with the troop at least a year. These are usually trips that are farther away than the normal 3 hours and are more expensive. Some of these trips from the past include canoeing at Tinnerman Base Camp in Canada, sea kayaking in Maine on the ocean, and white water rafting in both W. Virginia and Pennsylvania.
